Man writes book.
2006: No, really. About four years ago I undertook a project to write a basic introductory guide to Eastern Europe. Throughout my life I've had people asking me questions about the region, some driven by mere curiosity but others for more serious reasons. Even for those familiar with Western Europe, Eastern Europe often seemed mysterious, terra incognito, off the map with a little sign reading ‘Here be monsters.’ I have endeavored, after more than four years of research, to write the quintessential beginner's guide.

Another guy reads the book.
April, 2011: After years of research and having friends slog through my poor grammar for editing purposes, I have convinced an established expert in Eastern Europe, a professor of some renown in Poland, to review the book. I will release his name once this process is complete, but this is a major milestone. Assuming he writes a glowing recommendation -- clearly my hopes are high on that point -- then it's off to lay siege to publishers. I look forward to heating my home with the mountain of rejection letters no doubt heading my way. That's OK -- I just need one 'Da' in the sea of 'Nyet's.
